P1 Teachers in Kenya hold diplomas in primary teacher education which enables them to teach in Primary Schools. The Teachers Service Commission requires that every person who wishes to enroll in primary teacher education or Early Childhood Development meets all the entry requirements.

General P1 Teachers Intake 2023 Qualifications

- KCSE mean grade of C plain or above.
- At least a KCSE mean grade of C minus for visually and hearing impaired.
- Primary Teacher Education (PTE) certificate holders can also apply.
Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) requirements
Meeting any of the two requirements listed below will enable you to enroll for a diploma in early childhood development education.
- KCSE mean grade of C plain.
- KNEC ECDE Certificate holders can also apply for a diploma.

- Have a K.C.S.E certificate/Results slip
- Mean grade of C plain
- The course takes six terms face-to-face.
- One term of Micro-teaching and two(2) terms of practicum
- Afterwards, one is awarded a Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education upon meeting KNEC requirements.
Mosoiot teachers training college
- Diploma in Primary Teacher Education- (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) Upgrade Programme.
- Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) Pre-Service Programme to be offered in future.
Shanzu Teachers Training College
The entry requirements shall be C Plain in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination (KCSE) or its equivalent as equated by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec).

How to apply for Kenya P1 Teachers Intake 2023
Applications can be done through Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) when the portal is open for applications for those who scored at least C plain in KCSE.
Applications made through KUCCPS guarantee government sponsorship through Higher Education Funding when one is placed.
