With many universities in South Africa, a comprehensive list of universities open for 2024 applications would be necessary. SA Universities announce their application dates in order for potential students to send in their information for admission.
Since some universities do not accept late applications, we strongly advise you to apply within the application dates. The different universities all have different opening dates along with different closing dates as well.
To ensure that you do not miss your opportunity for admission, it is therefore important that university applications are submitted as soon as possible in order to secure your admission.
Whether you are a domestic or international student, If you want to study at a South African university, you must know when your application will be valid, that is, you must apply within the approved period.

What you require to study in Universities in South Africa
The minimum APS requirements for studying in any university for the four passing levels are as follows:
- Bachelor’s Degree pass – minimum APS 23.
- Diploma pass – minimum APS 19.
- Higher Certificate pass – minimum APS 15.
For international students, you require a passport number, and some form of clearance.
Domestic students (South African applicants) will need an ID number.
Please note that the above is general, the requirements depend on the university. For specific requirements please refer to the university page.
Going further, here are the necessary documents most universities in South Africa require for 2024 application. You require a:
- Certified copy of your ID
- Parent’s/guardian’s ID
- Exam results
- Proof of residence
- Most recent payslip NEVER sends the original documents.
MAKE SURE ALL DETAILS ARE CORRECT: Fill in your application form slowly and double-check your details before submitting online. If you fill out a hardcopy, use a pencil before filling it out with a blue or black pen.
PAY THE APPLICATION FEE: Make sure of the required amount, EFT it, or pay it at the bank. Never post it. Send the university proof of payment.
SIGNING THE DECLARATION: Read through the form and make sure your details are all true and correct. You AND your parent/ guardian need to sign it.
ACCEPTANCE: You will be sent a formal email or letter to inform you of your acceptance. Remember to continue working hard and pay the minimum initial payment by the due date.
