Matric Results 2023/2024 – How to Check your result

Matric Results 2023/2024 release dates have been announced. You can check your 2023 matric result on these release dates through the several outlined methods. The Department of Basic Education will announce the release of 2023 Matric Results on Thursday, 18 January 2024 after which Matric learners will then be able to check their results at exam centres on Friday, 19 January 2023.

Candidates’ results are normally withheld due to irregularities, but those candidates whose results have been blocked or withheld have the right to appeal.

Can I apply for re-checking/remarking?

After following the steps stated in this article, if you are uncomfortable with your results, you may apply for re-checking or re-marking examination answer scripts immediately.

Usually, the application for a re-check or re-mark is usually 14 days after the release of matric results and it is also indicated on the reverse side of the Statement of results.

When IEB Results will be released?
Students on the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) will see their results too. The board, IEB defines and marks the final exams for most of the country’s private and independent schools. The Independent Examinations Board results are expected to be released two days earlier than 19 January 2024.

HOW TO CHECK MATRIC RESULTS

Several Ways to Check Matric Results Online 2023/2024

Matric Results have been successfully uploaded online, there are several methods to check your result. Simply follow the below steps to check your result:

1. HOW TO CHECK YOUR MATRIC RESULTS THROUGH YOUR HIGH SCHOOL

You can check your Matric 2023 Results at your High School. Your High School is expected to have your results a day after the initial release date.

 

Things to Note:

This is not the official matric certificate, it’s just your results for each subject.
You will be able to obtain your official matric certificate once it has been printed in full.
For further information concerning results, do not hesitate to contact your school to find out further information.

2. HOW TO CHECK 2023 MATRIC RESULT VIA IEB (Independent Examinations Board):

  • Go to the IEB Matric Results 2023 Portal via http://www.ieb-online.co.za/asp/login.aspx
  • Enter your Exam Number and date of Birth in the required field
  • Click on the ‘Submit‘ button to access your Matric 2023 / 2024 Results.

Due to the high website traffic that comes on the results release date, expect delayed response times.

3. MATRIC RESULT CHECK 2023/2024 VIA NEWS24 WEBSITE:

News24 may also allow you to search NSC Results by province on the News24 website.

  • Go to the News24 Matric Results 2023 Portal via https://www.news24.com/news24/matricresults
  • Enter your Matric Examination Number in the required field
  • Select your exam type, either NSC or IEB.
  • Click on the ‘Search‘ button to access your Matric 2023 Result

4. Using MatricsMate App

  • Download the MatricsMate app from Google Play Store. Note: Apple users can use MatricsMate2
  • Enter your 13-digit ID number and examination number.
  • You will then be able to view the matric results as soon as they are available.

5. Gauteng Matric Results Online

Results will be available for access through the GPG Matric App using your smartphone or any device with internet access.

6. HOW TO CHECK YOUR RESULT AT THE DEPARTMENT OF BASIC EDUCATION WEBSITE:

  • With knowledge of your ID Number and Matric Examination Number, Go to the Department of Basic Education Matric Results Portal – https://www.education.gov.za/MatricResults/ExamResults/tabid/175/Default.aspx
  • Enter your ID Number and Matric Examination Number into their respective fields.
  • Click on the ‘Search‘ button to access your Matric 2023 Results. Note: You may need the following to log in: Exam number, Home Language, Your personal details (name, surname, etc.)
  • The DBE website can be accessed without data, hence it is zero-rated.

Things to Note about Department of Basic Education Result Website:

  • The DBE website carries results for candidates from public/government schools.
  • www.education.gov.za does not incur data charges, therefore browsing the website to check your result should be data-free.
  • The results reflected on the website are the results of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination.
  • Statement of Results will also be made available at the school/exam centre where the candidate wrote.
  • While there may be reasons why some candidate’s results may be excluded from the results published on the website, kindly visit the school/exam centre where you wrote.
  • It is worthnoting that The Department of Basic Education reserves the right to change any of the information published on the website.

7. Checking Matric Result via Newspaper

Your results will be published in the National Newspapers on the result release date. Newspaper brands like The RapportThe Argus and The Star will have your results.

The Newspaper publication does not carry so many details concerning your matric result. It states whether you passed, and with what symbol you passed – B for Bachelors PassD for Diploma, etc but it does not carry so many results details.

8. Checking Matric Results through SMS and USSD

The other way to check your result is through SMS and USSD. With your mobile device, you can receive your results. Thanks to SABC Education and the Department of Basic Education, learners can get an SMS with their results. To receive your results in this manner, register and have your results sent to you as soon as they are released.

  • Register via SMS starts with Sending your  ID number and exam number to 35658.
  • Once registration is completed, results will be delivered by SMS when they are released.

Note: There is a once-off cost of R3 to register. O

9. Checking Matric Results through USSD

  • Use the USSD service, Register using the USSD code *120*35658#
  • Answer a few multiple questions
  • Enter your ID number
  • You will get your matric results per subject
  • USSD rates apply. SMSs are charged at R1,50 and R1,50 per minute on USSD.

10. through Phone Call

Interesting to say, you can also access your matric results, by placing calls. Mind you though, lots of matric students may decide to call to find out their results so you might wait for quite a while to get your results.

  • Dial 082 152 for your results.
